Outdoor learning is an important part of the Garden Montessori curriculum. Early education students learn to grow and care for small garden plots during the spring and fall. Elementary and Middle School students visit Savage Garden throughout the year to learn about the plants and trees and to enjoy reading, writing, and drawing in a natural environment. All of the classrooms take frequent nature walks through the garden.
We are currently undergoing an extensive renovation of our main playground. Thanks to a generous bequest from a Garden Montessori student’s family, we are designing an outdoor classroom. Plans for this exciting new space include a garden plot, room to conduct science experiments, and seating for students during outdoor lessons. We hope to have our outdoor classroom up and running by 2017.
